Acknowledgements

As this school year comes to an end, I’d like to thank everyone and everything that has made first hour 11AP English bearable and possible. First I’d like to mention all the fellow AP students who kept me motivated throughout the school year. Thank you to Amritha for keeping me sane and making me seem more put together by association. Thank you to Zach for helping me make it through first semester and keeping me going during the hardest parts of the class. Thank you to Sydney for reminding me of our english homework and giving tons of inspiration for my blog posts. Also, a big thank you to Brian who helped me (and other people) to laugh at myself in my not-so-proud moments of this class. And thanks to everyone else I’ve talked to in first hour for making the whole class a lot more fun.

Next, I would like to thank the teachers who has pushed me to try harder and improve my writing. Firstly, Mr. Kisse, for forcing me out of my comfort zone a couple of times and making me speak out in class. While this didn’t cause me to want to do it more, it showed me that I was capable to sharing my thinking in class. Second, Ms. Valentino, for constantly pushing me to be better. Not only in my writing and in-class-essays, but also with motivating me to try and get to class sooner everyday. This gave me an incentive to start my morning earlier with her class in mind.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to in-class-essays. For rhetorical analysis essays that showed me that I was able to slightly improve my score overtime, regardless of what I had thought. Also, essays such as argumentative essays and synthesis essays (which were my personal favorite) helped me the most to improve and everything that I learnt while writing those will hopefully get me through the AP exam.

Lastly, pieces that I read and enjoyed have been my favorite part of this class. Especially Nacirema, This is Water, Our Barbies, Ourselves, Disability, and The F word. These pieces truly inspired me in my own writing and in my life. The meanings behind each of them truly stuck out to me and taught me how to be a better reader and writer.
